The White Sconce—Just Right

People sometimes think white can be boring when it comes to Dunes and Duchess pieces. Why choose white when there’s International Lifesaving Orange, No Scurvy Lemon or Commodore of the Yacht Blue? As you can see here, some times white is just right when you have a colorful or graphic wallpaper.

Have a Seat

Last fall we started making the Chappy Bench, which you see here, covered in a Jonathan Adler fabric through Kravet and painted in our Commodore of the Yacht Club Blue. Next week in New York at the gift show we’ll actually show it as a stool, unupholstered. We can paint this bench any color (even […]

A Perfect Sconce in a Perfect Moment

This is a photo of a room that has been used as our dining room at one time or another. Now it’s basically a dog room because it’s where the dogs lounge when we’re not at home. The room is pretty much a mess right now because our lives are consumed with work, but for […]

The Perfect Cupcake (Calorie Free!)

There’s nothing like a cupcake. It’s the perfect size and offers just enough of a sugar rush to keep you going. You think I’m talking about some confection from the bakery? No! I’m talking about a Dunes and Duchess Cupcake sconce. Dunes and I send these little treats out to stores and designers all the […]

Pulling Double Duty

Dunes and I have day jobs you know. Can you imagine? Working all day and then becoming all designery and romantic at night not only to design, but to build and ship product? Pretty crazy, huh? It’s also pretty crazy that the one thing we’re trained to do so well—Dunes is an amazing professional photographer […]

Dunes and Duchess in NYC!

The New York International Gift Fair, affectionately known as NYIGF has got to be the biggest most whirlwind get together of like-minded design people we’ve ever known. For us, it’s a chance to debut our new collection, meet new vendors, and connect with people in the media. We love visiting with everyone! FINALLY I get […]

A Touch of Burlap Never Hurts!

As glossy and shiny as our Dunes and Duchess candelabras, lamps, and sconces are we though a little roughness might do them some good. We are so pleased to announce that we’re now carrying burlap shades for our four and single-arm candelabra lamps as well as our sconces. Check them out and let us know […]
